Camp Wilderness
“The Ultimate Ingersoll Experience”
Harkening back to the early years of Ingersoll Scout Reservation, Camp Wilderness
encompasses hundreds of beautiful, undeveloped acres of land on the furthest boundaries of
camp. Take a journey back in time to the Western Frontier, a Minnesotan Logging Camp, or
trek into the wilderness for your entire camp experience. Fun and adventure awaits Scouts of
all ages looking to get a little more out of their camp experience. Main camp is great, but don’t
miss your chance to experience what lies beyond the eastern gates.
Here are the programs that are offered:
Week-Long Wilderness Factor Trek
Requirement: Male and females ages 14-20, limit of 16 participants per week
This is a high adventure, backpacking-based trek for Boy Scouts and Venturers. This
group of 16 participants and 2 staff will act as a provisional Troop, and can come any week
during the summer. They will see areas of camp that few have seen before! Wilderness
Factor participants will have many different day-to-day programs that will challenge them
and enhance their Scouting skills. A few activities include Geocaching, trapping, kayaking,
and various methods of camping, cooking, gathering water, and other backcountry
camping methods. Scouts will learn and live by the teachings of Leave No Trace. In order
to make trek preparations, the DEADLINE FOR SIGN UP IS JUNE 1, 2010. Wilderness
Factor Trek Guidebooks will be sent directly to Scouts who sign up to make them aware of
what gear and also what forms are needed for this trek.
Worried about earning Merit Badges? The Wilderness Factor Trek will give
participants the opportunity to earn the following Merit Badges:
Astronomy, Backpacking, Fishing, Hiking, Indian Lore, Nature, Pioneering, Plant Science
and Wilderness Survival
Some of these Merit Badges include prerequisites (listed in the ISR Leaders’ Guide) which must
be done before arriving at camp to complete the Merit Badge.
**** Any Scout who has participated in the 2010 Ingersoll Camping experience, may come
back to participate in the Wilderness Factor Trek for $105.00 ****
